I absolutely loved the charming and cozy decoration at Barker Knott Farm Cottage. The farmhouse had a lovely rustic feel to it, with beautiful antique furniture and traditional fixtures. The general areas were so warm and inviting, perfect for relaxing and enjoying the peaceful surroundings. As a senior woman, I also appreciated the accessibility of the cottage. The layout was easy to navigate, and there were no stairs or obstacles that would have posed a challenge for me.
I would have loved to have some assistance from the children working there to help with carrying my luggage.

Our stay at Barker Knott Farm Cottage was wonderful. The location was beautiful, with stunning walks through the craggy hills just behind the house. The cottage itself was cozy and comfortable, with a lovely working fireplace. The kitchen facilities were great and we appreciated the supply of logs and kindling for the fire. The hosts were welcoming and gave us privacy, which was a nice touch. Despite a few minor issues with the shower and some cobwebs, we felt at home in the cottage. I would highly recommend this place.

We were blown away by the quick resolution of a faulty light fitting, the friendly and helpful owners who taught us about farming in Cumbria, and the charming and well-equipped property. The peaceful location offered easy access to both the lakes and Kendal, and the open fire added to the already cozy atmosphere. It truly felt like home.

I absolutely loved the charming decor of the cottage. The traditional furnishings and cozy atmosphere made me feel right at home. The general areas of the cottage were well-maintained and comfortable, perfect for relaxing after a long day of exploring. As a senior woman, I appreciated that the cottage was easily accessible with no stairs to climb, making it convenient for me to move around without any difficulties.
The only thing I would have asked for to make the vacation even better for senior people is more assistance from the children working there. It would have been helpful to have someone available to help with luggage or offer guidance on local attractions.

Located just outside of Bowness, it offers a peaceful and idyllic setting while still being close to amenities. the owners, the Allen's, are lovely people who made us feel incredibly welcome. the highlight for me was the stunning walk through the craggy hills behind the house. The owners were super chill and gave us the lowdown on farming in Cumbria. We were surrounded by mooing cows, but it was all good vibes. The cottage had everything we needed, and the location was lit! We hit up Windermere and Ambleside, and they were straight fire. So much to explore and hella cool activities for us young party-goers.
The only thing that could have been better was if there was a sick party spot nearby. We had to travel a bit to find the lit nightlife.

The location was simply breathtaking, with stunning views of the surrounding countryside. The cottage itself was cozy and comfortable, providing us with all the amenities we needed for our stay. We particularly enjoyed the beautiful walks through the nearby hills, offering the perfect opportunity for our children to explore and connect with nature. The convenient proximity to Windermere and Ambleside made it easy for us to venture out and explore the charming towns. We especially appreciated the well-equipped kitchen and the delightful fireplace, which added an extra touch of warmth and coziness to our evenings.
For dads, it would be great to have a small playground area for the children to enjoy.

We loved everything about our stay at this charming farm cottage. the owners were incredibly welcoming and made us feel right at home. the cottage itself was beautiful, comfortable, and cosy, offering everything we needed for a romantic getaway. We were also thrilled with the flowers, chocolates, and wine that were waiting for us upon arrival. It was the perfect touch to make our stay extra special.
the shower had a tendency to start screaming at us at times, and on occasion, the water would stop flowing for longer than we would have liked, especially in the chilly bathroom during February. it would have been convenient if we could have walked to Bowness from the property, but we had to rely on our car for transportation.
